Chinchilla Check List

Before bringing your chin home for the very first time, here's a list to help make sure you have covered everything and purchased everything you need to welcome your new family member.

Your Chinchilla Check List:

Cage: Large enough for them to jump around, must have 2 or more levels in my opinion. Pull out pan or not is your preference. I prefer pull out pans.

Food: A Good quality Pellet, Mazuri, Oxbow, Traditional Feed. I use Mazuri.

Water: Good size water bottle, not bowl.

Hay: Timothy or Alfalfa. Timothy is the one I recommend.

Litter: Pine, Small Pet Eco bedding are two types that I use. Pine should be Kiln dried. Aspen bedding is ok too, but it seems to be a little more costly. No Cedar, Newspapers or Corn cob bedding.

Toys: Wood blocks, exercise wheels, wood logs.

Treats: Raisins, dried bananas, dried apples....(refer to my information section on my website for best treats and those to stay away from)

Dust: Blue Cloud or Blue Sparkle are best (mostly found on the internet). It should be specially formulated volcanic ash.

Wood: Cannot be pressure treated wood! Ledges to perch on, houses, small logs (from a pet store).
